Offline Inventory

We had many systems that were what we called air-gapped. No network basically. This process provided a means to get them into inventory.

Summary

This process is designed to assist with performing an inventory of an offline /  static system which typically has no external method of communication. 

Requirements

  • This will only work with a Current OS (XP / 2003 and lower will fail).

    • XP / 2003 requires an install of the agent (ver 10.x) . Run the same command line referenced below

      • c:\program files (x86)\landesk\ldclient\Ldiscn32.exe /l- /o=<Path>\%ComputerName%.txt /f /i=LdAppl3.ini /sync /noui

    • You can uninstall the agent after the fact if your concerned about resources being consumed.

  • USB device to transport the source files / inventory.

Process

  • Copy the inventory scanner utility, a software description file (usually LdAppl3.ini), and the following files to a thumb drive or other accessible location: ldiscn32.exe, elogapi.dll, loc32vc0.dll, and processrunner.dll.

  • Open an Elevated CMD prompt.  Navigate to the Source folder where you copied the files above.

  • Execute the following syntax - Ldiscn32.exe /l- /o=<Path>\%ComputerName%.txt /f /i=LdAppl3.ini /sync /noui

  • You can open Task Manager and check to verify the scanner launched.

  • When it has completed, retrieve the TXT file that's been generated and submit it for import.
